Jakarta – The Indonesian Business 20 (B20) delegation traveled to the United States and Canada to promote the major concerns and agendas of Indonesia’s B20 presidency in 2022.
The roadshow also aimed to invite business actors from both nations to the B20 Indonesia Summit on November 13–14, 2022, in Bali, according to Shinta W. Kamdani, the head of Indonesia’s B20 Presidency organizer, in a statement issued here on Saturday.
The forum is the official G20 dialogue forum for the global business community, according to the B20 website.
According to the official, the roadshow will strengthen Indonesia’s bilateral economic cooperation with the United States and Canada, as well as showcase investment prospects in energy transition and sustainable financing to potential investors from the two nations.
The green energy transformation initiative is likely to be one of the global community’s legacies of Indonesia’s B20 presidency in 2022.
It will be pursued via a net-zero road plan in order to create more business opportunities, clean and green jobs, and inclusive and collaborative economic growth.
The B20 group visited the Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) Forum, the New York Stock Exchange, the World Bank, the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the United States Chamber of Commerce, and the Department of Commerce during the roadshow.
They also met with John Kerry, the US President’s special envoy for climate change.
During the visit, Kamdani, who is also vice chairperson III of maritime, investment, and foreign affairs at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), emphasized that meeting Indonesia’s 2060 net-zero emissions target will necessitate financial, technology, and energy infrastructure support to encourage the optimal use of new and renewable energy.
Furthermore, appropriate policy structures for increasing public and private finance and investment in low-carbon activities and projects are required.
“In carrying out the energy transition, we must also pay attention to energy justice because the effort affects the entire community,” stated a Kadin official.
During the roadshow, Indonesian delegates also advocated for cross-border cooperation and global solidarity, with an emphasis on digital transformation, sustainable energy, and micro, small, and medium companies (MSMEs).
