Jakarta, Indonesia – Within the next one to two months, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan intends to solve concerns concerning the distribution, availability, and price management of cooking oil.
Minister Hasan stated that he discovered a reoccurring fault in the entire cooking oil issue. He made the statement before joining President Joko Widodo’s plenary cabinet meeting.
“Indeed, I am aware of the (real issue) with this bulk oil (issue). There are three distribution routes (and) a total of 10,000 (places where they are sold). Right now, I’m ordering for (expedited distribution) at over 10,000 (locations), so people may get it for Rp14 thousand “He told this.
Later on, cooking oil would be supplied 24 hours a day at specific locations, and they would be monitored to determine if there was a delay in supply, and so on.
This idea, according to the minister, could address the issue of bulk cooking oil distribution channels.
His second countermeasure was to create simple packaging for bulk oil in order to simplify distribution, particularly in rural places.
“For example, how would you transport gallons if everything was far away? In Maluku, for example. As a result, where would the package be received later, making the distribution path easier? On Wednesday, June 15, Hasan was sworn in as commerce minister, succeeding Muhammad Lutfi.
The president anticipated that Minister Hasan would concentrate on domestic trade matters.
President Jokowi believes that the newly inducted minister could solve current difficulties ranging from supply chain issues to increasing prices of basic items such as cooking oil.
He believed Hasan’s significant expertise qualified him for the position of commerce minister.
Food and associated matters necessitate firsthand experience and work, as well as the ability to observe concerns that are essentially related to people’s basic necessities.
