RIYADH: Saudi Arabia welcomes the internationally recognized Yemeni government’s decision to ease the admission of oil derivatives ships into the port of Hodeidah, according to the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.
“The Kingdom reiterates its determination to assist the success of the UN-brokered truce and its unequivocal condemnation of the Houthi militants’ manipulation of the international community,” the ministry stated.
According to Yemen’s Saba news agency, the Yemeni administration has no problems to the entry of oil derivatives ships into Hodeidah.
According to Saba news agency, the government restated its willingness to provide all additional services in order to alleviate human suffering and prevent the Houthi militia from blackmailing the international community and profiting from criminal markets.
The Saudi foreign ministry also stated in a statement that the coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government is committed to achieving peace despite the Iran-backed Houthi forces’ stubbornness and reluctance to implement their agreements.
According to the ministry, the Houthis have barred oil ships from entering Hodeidah, a process put in place under UN supervision since December 2019.
The Houthis have been accused of attempting to restart the war and thwarting truce efforts, as well as failing to meet their duties, particularly those connected to paying employee salaries in regions under their control.
According to the Yemeni government, the Houthis have been pressuring enterprises and traders of oil derivatives to break existing laws and the international UN system in place since 2019 in order to import petroleum through the ports of Hodeidah since August 10.
The United States and France released identical statements on Friday, applauding the government’s move to ease the entry of oil tankers into Hodeidah.
