MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — Pangasinan’s provincial government has taken over the dairy farm in Laoac town, with intentions to expand its product line and convert it into a farm school.
Governor Ramon Guico III stated in an interview on Thursday that the National Dairy Authority (NDA) will provide technical help to the province.
“We wanted the target number of cow or carabao heads to exceed the farm’s break-even income for its maintenance,” he explained.
Aside from the farm’s normal fresh milk (pasteurized), the provincial government hopes to create other products such as ice cream, yogurt, and cheese.
“The milk produced on the farm will be used for the province’s feeding program for malnourished children,” Guico explained.
He also stated that the land will be converted into an agricultural school.
“We’re collaborating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and other organizations to turn it into a training facility,” he continued.
