MANILA — The Philippine Army (PA) is dedicated to building ground forces capable of dealing with a wide range of security concerns.

Col. Alvin V. Luzon, PA assistant chief-of-staff for operations, emphasized this during the recently completed Year-end 2022 Operations Family Conference on Friday at the SOTO Grande Hotel on Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.

The Army official delivered a rundown of PA successes based on its mandate to develop, organize, train, equip, support, and sustain ground units for the execution of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) mission during the briefing.

“Col. Luzon underscored PA’s effort to strengthen ground forces’ capability to meet all types of threats and raise the existing operating tempo of ground units,” said Army spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad in a statement sent to reporters Saturday night.

Similarly, Luzon provided an update on actions taken by the PA leadership to provide mission-critical equipment to ground troops, as well as programs being pursued to boost its operational tempo in carrying out the AFP’s operations.

“Overall, the PA will continue to effectively perform its primary tasks in order to capacitate the PA troops to support the successful execution of the AFP line of efforts and operations,” Luzon stated.

He noted that the PA will continue on its path of capability and organizational development, and that it will be prepared to respond to the challenges posed by the constantly developing security environment.
