ANKARA, Turkey – On Saturday, an explosion at a rocket and explosives plant killed at least five workers, according to Turkiye’s defense ministry.
The incident happened at 8:45 a.m. on the outskirts of Ankara, at the premises of the state-owned Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation.
An investigation into the cause of the explosion was initiated.
Several ambulances and fire trucks were sent to the scene.
The power of the blast smashed shop and house windows in the nearby region, according to NTV television.
According to the broadcaster, family members hurried to the facility to learn what had happened to their loved ones.
