KHARTOUM – The Sudanese army accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces on Wednesday of “kidnapping and assassinating” West Darfur state’s governor, nearly two months after a power struggle between rival generals plunged the country into a deadly war.
The RSF’s death of Khamis Abdullah Abakar added a “new chapter to its record of barbaric crimes that it has been committing against all Sudanese people,” the army wrote on Facebook, describing the tragedy as a “brutal act.”
