CAIRO: EgyptAir, the Egyptian national carrier, announced on Tuesday that it will begin operating its first direct route from Cairo to Port Sudan on September 1.
The decision comes after Sudanese officials reopened the country’s eastern airspace after closing the entire airspace since April 15, when fighting broke out.
Since then, humanitarian and evacuation planes have operated from the Red Sea coast’s Port Sudan airport.
