Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, called upon the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility and take necessary actions to safeguard the rights of Palestinians.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi cautioned against a potentially devastating cycle of violence, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
President El-Sisi received a call from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed coordinating efforts to defuse tensions in the Gaza Strip between Israelis and Palestinians. El-Sisi’s spokesperson highlighted his concerns about the situation worsening and leading to increased violence, deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, and the potential for a dangerous cycle of tensions that could threaten regional stability and security.
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued an appeal to both the Palestinian and Israeli sides, urging them to exercise maximum restraint.
Foreign Minister Shoukry initiated a series of calls to his counterparts in Russia, Turkey, Germany, France, and Spain, aiming to mobilize international actors for immediate intervention.
In a conversation with Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, both expressed deep concern about the escalating events and their dangerous progression.
Safadi, in a separate statement, highlighted the volatility of the situation, particularly in the West Bank, where Israeli attacks and violations against Palestinians are taking place.
Shoukry also reached out to UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed to discuss the severity of the current situation and the need for efforts to prevent further deterioration in the security situation.
In a conversation with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, Shoukry underscored the importance of halting the escalation and emphasized the need for all parties to exercise restraint.
A joint statement from Shoukry and Russia’s Sergei Lavrov stressed the immediate necessity of de-escalation ahead of an emergency UN Security Council meeting scheduled for Sunday.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, held phone discussions with counterparts from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Palestine, and Iran to address the conflict between Israeli forces and Palestinians. Earlier, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry had indicated that Ankara was actively engaged with all parties and prepared to assist in de-escalating the situation.
