According to Ukrainian authorities, 18,000 guns and ammo have been delivered to reservists in the Kyiv region alone since the Russian invasion began early Thursday.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhniy stated in a joint statement that more armaments were on their way.
“We will soon receive greater support from our partners in the form of new weapons and other resources,” they stated.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered a total military mobilization yesterday.
According to Zelensky, a broad-based mobilization was ordered “in order to ensure the defense of the state, preserving combat and mobilization readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military units,” including in the capital, Kyiv, and all significant cities in Ukraine.
According to the State Border Guard Service, this included a restriction on all male nationals aged 18 to 60 leaving the country.
The mobilization also mandated the “conscription of conscripts and reservists for military service, and their delivery to military units and institutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” as well as other state security services.
