RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, more than 200 students and 90 coaches took part in the World Robot Olympiad final qualifiers for 2022.
The Saudi Wireless Sports and Remote Control Sports Federation and Robot hosted the three-day final qualifiers from Oct. 11-13 at the King Salman Science Oasis in Riyadh.
Under the theme “My Robot, My Friend,” children aged 9 to 19 demonstrated their ingenuity and problem-solving abilities.
The Ministry of Education aspires to strengthen students’ talents in five areas through participation and representation of the Kingdom.
Participants in the Future Innovator and Robot Tasks categories had to create and program clever robots to complete random tasks, respectively.
Robots competed against teams of tennis players in the RoboSport category.
Participants in the Future Engineer category used engineering design, programming abilities, and artificial intelligence to create a self-driving car model.
The goal of the Virtual Robot Challenge is to help students improve their technical skills through robot programming.
The competitors will represent the United Kingdom at the world competition, which will be held in November in Germany and will feature competitors from more than 90 countries.
The ministry strives to stay up with the improvements of virtual robot challenges in keeping with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 aims of building a globally competitive generation.
