Health Ministry completes recount of Kanjuruhan victims

Jakarta, Indonesia – The Ministry of Health has completed the process of tallying the number of individuals killed and injured in the Saturday evening stampede at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, East Java.

“All victims have now been identified, whether they are injured or have died. The data is already final as of this afternoon “Siti Nadia Tarmizi, chief of the ministry’s information and public service division, confirmed the news here on Monday.

According to reports validated by 25 local health care facilities that treated the victims, 219 people were injured mildly to moderately and 68 people were badly injured in the incident.

“Those who are now being treated have reached 26 patients, and 125 individuals have died,” she said.

Kanjuruhan Hospital, Gondanglegi Hospital, Hasta Brata Batu Hospital, Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital, Wajak Husada Hospital, Mitra Delima Hospital, Wava Husada Hospital, Tejahusada Clinic, Ben Mari Hospital, and Sumber Sentosa Hospital all provided reports.

UMM Hospital, Prima Husada Hospital, Salsabila Hospital, Pindad Hospital, Lawang Hospital, Soepraoen Hospital, Hasta Husada Hospital, Bokor Turen Hospital, Supraoen Hospital, Aisiyah Hospital, Lavalette, Pantinirmala, UNISMA Hospital, and Kota Malang Hospital also contributed reports.

Earlier, Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced that 125 people had perished in the Kanjuruhan Stadium stampede.

Prior to the update, the number of deceased was declared to be 129, but verification revealed that several people were counted twice.

The authorities are still conducting more investigations into the tragedy that claimed the lives of over a hundred people. He stated that the police will conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.

The rush happened at Kanjuruhan Stadium after a game between Arema FC and Persebaya, which ended with a score of 2-3. The police and other authorities are still looking into the incident.
