Heavy rains force suspension of work, classes in Central Luzon

PAMPANGA’S Philippine – Due to the low pressure area and northeast monsoon, several local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon declared the suspension of afternoon sessions in all levels for both private and public schools on Thursday.

Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda ordered a moratorium on classes and activities at government offices in the province.

“In coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), work in government offices and classes at all levels in public and private schools is deemed to be in the best interests of all concerned,” Pineda said in his executive order.

However, he stated that frontline and critical offices, as well as other emergency responders and hospitals, have been directed to maintain operations and provide the required services to the public.

Due to the ongoing rains, the city administrations of San Fernando and Angeles issued identical executive orders.

Minalin, Apalit, and Masantol were among the other LGUs in this province to cancel afternoon courses.

Governor Daniel Fernando of Bulacan ordered the early dismissal of primary and high school students.

The cities of Bocaue, Norzagaray, Sta. Maria, Doa Remedios Trinidad, and Malolos also canceled afternoon sessions at all levels.

Capas, Tarlac, has likewise declared a cancellation of all classes at all levels in both private and public schools.

PAGASA issued a yellow rain warning for majority of Central Luzon, including six of the seven provinces: Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan.

Only the province of Aurora was exempt from the PAGASA caution.
