Marcos committed to making Filipinos’ lives better: Palace

MANILA, Philippines – According to Malacaang, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is committed to improving the lives of all Filipinos in a post-pandemic economy.

This remark was made by Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Press Secretary, following the release of a survey that revealed that most Filipinos believe the country is heading in the right direction under the Marcos administration.

According to a recent survey conducted by OCTA Research and the Manila Bulletin, 85 percent of Filipino adults believe the country is on the right track, while only 6 percent believe otherwise.

“…The President is determined and committed to improving the lives of all Filipinos through programs that provide job opportunities and ease of doing business, as well as ensuring food security,” Garafil said in a press release.

According to the survey, those in the Visayas have the highest level of agreement that the country is moving in the right direction, with 91 percent.

Meanwhile, 87 percent of adult Filipinos in Balance Luzon (Luzon outside Metro Manila), 84 percent in Mindanao, and 70 percent in Metro Manila believe the country is heading in the right direction.

According to Garafil, the survey “confirms” that Marcos and his administration have been making “all the right moves” in steering the country out of the economic slump caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“These figures represent Filipinos who, in their own personal lives, homes, and workplaces, have experienced the extraordinary difficulties that the last two years have brought upon us all, and who are well aware of the challenges that we, as a nation, face in rising above these difficulties,” she added.

Class D, or the lower middle class, had the highest level of agreement that the country is heading in the right direction, with 86 percent.

Eighty-one percent of those in Class E, or the “poorest of the poor,” and 79 percent of those in Class ABC, which is mostly made up of upper middle-class people, believe the country is on the right track under the current administration.

She acknowledged that leading the government is “not an easy task” as the country continues to recover from the pandemic.

Garafil also reiterated Marcos’ call for Filipinos to work together to help him lift more Filipinos out of poverty.

“The President’s call for unity and cooperation is as strong today as his administration works to fulfill his campaign promises to every Filipino, both at home and abroad,” he added.

The OCTA-Manila Bulletin survey had 1,200 adult respondents and was conducted from October 23-27, 2022.

Filipino respondents were asked, “Do you think the country is leading in the right direction based on the policies and programs presented and implemented by the current administration?”

The survey’s margin of error, according to OCTA, is 3%.
