Jakarta – On Saturday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with Elon Musk, the founder of the American space transportation company Space X, and visited the company’s rocket factory in Boca Chica, California (US).
Musk personally met the President when he arrived at the Stargate Space X Building about 10:30 a.m. local time.
They talked before going on a tour of Space X’s rocket production plant.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Jokowi stated that the visit was in response to his directions to Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
“It is a follow-up to my directives, and it will allow us to speak with Musk about investment, technology, and innovation (development). As a result, I’ve come to meet Must in person to discuss (our potential) future collaboration “He stated.
As a result, he invited the corporation’s founder to come to Indonesia.
“I believe he is quite interested in visiting Indonesia soon,” the President remarked.
He left the area after roughly an hour of touring the production plant.
Meanwhile, Musk stated on the same occasion that he hopes to visit Indonesia in November 2022.
“Thank you for inviting me,” he said.
He also mentioned that he was very interested in Indonesia’s future, which has many huge potentials.
“As a result, Tesla and Space X will look into possible agreements with Indonesia,” the businessman stated.
According to him, one of Indonesia’s most important potentials is the country’s vast population, which is still growing.
“It’s fantastic because we’re going to need a lot of people (human resources) in the future,” he added.
President Jokowi was accompanied on the tour by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, State Secretary Minister Pratikno, and Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Rosan Roeslani.
The president arrived in the United States on May 10, 2022, to attend the ASEAN-US Special Summit.
