Protestors burn down old home of Iran’s regime founder Ayatollah Khomeini

TEHRAN: Iranian protestors burned down the old home of the regime’s founder, Ayatollah Khomeini, as protests continued despite a harsh crackdown, according to social media footage.

Protesters were seen on video attacking the leader’s old home, which had been turned into a museum as a tribute to the architect of the Iranian Revolution that established the Islamic Republic in 1979.

Protesters in Khomein, the former leader’s birthplace and location of the museum, chanted anti-repressive regime slogans as footage showed the property on fire.

Iran’s protests have entered their third month, with hundreds of mourners taking to the streets this week to mark the anniversary of “Bloody November,” when hundreds were killed in 2019 protests over a fuel price increase.

The death in September of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was detained by morality police for violating Iran’s strict Hijab rules, sparked worldwide protests.

According to rights groups, over 300 people have been killed and thousands more have been detained. This week, the regime imposed five death sentences, vowing retaliation against “rioters.”
