Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, National University (Faperta Unas) in collaboration with the Association of Private Universities – Indonesian Agricultural Sciences (APTS-IPI) held an International Seminar.

The activity was held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the Unas Auditorium. The theme was: “Penthahelix Collaboration And Strategic Communication For Successfull Green Economy In Indonesia”

This seminar aims to provide awareness and build collaboration between academics, business, government, community, and media to realize a green economy in Indonesia.

In addition, the seminar also aims to provide more awareness to, not only academics, but also students. “That, success in building a green economy in Indonesia must use a collaboration strategy between several parties such as academics, business, government, community, and the media,” said Prof. Drs. Edy Yuwono, Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Unas in his statement.

He added that with the collaboration of various parties, the dissemination of information about the green economy to the community can be conveyed properly so that the public can understand economic ideas that aim to improve the welfare and social equality of the community.

With the collaboration of these various parties, he continued, the dissemination of information about the green economy to the public can be conveyed properly. So, people can understand economic ideas that aim to improve the welfare and social equality of the community.

“Global warming is a phenomenon of rising average temperatures of the earth that results in declining agricultural output, and it occurs in all countries except in highlands where temperatures are still relatively not rising sharply. So, global warming is an issue that we have to pay attention to and it is very much related to food security,” he said.

In an effort to mitigate global warming, it can be done by prioritizing environmental sustainability factors in economic activities. This is so that the environment is not damaged by company activities and so that the company can contribute through the implementation of sustainable business.

Therefore, these efforts require a strategic collaboration and communication between all parties. “But it is impossible without strategic collaboration and communication between the five parties (academia, business, government, community, and media) and the media that play the most role in socializing the idea,” he explained.

Multi-stakeholder cooperation or known as the penthahelix concept where elements of the government, academics, agencies or business actors, the community or community, and the media unite to coordinate. In addition, it is also committed to developing knowledge innovations that have the potential to be capitalized or transformed into products and services that have economic value.

This approach aims to strengthen the economic resilience of the community to find a pattern of partnership in the development of the potential of an area, namely by involving multi-parties who synergize with each other. Through the partnership pattern, it is hoped that it can realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in achieving the acceleration of economic development, food and energy security, welfare, environmental improvement and building awareness of the existence of state wealth.

In an effort to contribute to realizing a green economy, the Faculty of Agriculture Unas carries out academic activities or agricultural practices that do not waste space, water then considers renewable energy.

“The Faculty of Agriculture of Unas is focusing on urban farming or agriculture for urban areas, of course, because urban conditions are indeed very different from conditions in rural areas, therefore consideration of agricultural activities that are not wasteful of space, water then considering renewable energy must make the focus there and it becomes very relevant to what are the goals of the green economy itself so hope that Unas can contribute to that thought,” concluded Prof. Edy.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of APTS IPI, Prof. Dr. IR. Nurhidayati, M.Si. said that this event was in the context of independent learning independent campus (MBKM) and also realizing the green economy in Indonesia.

Regarding agriculture in Indonesia today, Prof. Nurhidayati said that agricultural and environmental conditions in Indonesia are at an alarming stage. This happens due to the increasing use of external inputs, namely the utilization of natural resources (soil, water, plants, plants and animals).
