PALM BEACH, FLORIDA – Former US President Donald Trump said Monday (Aug. 8) that FBI investigators were “raided” at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in what he called an act of “prosecutorial malpractice.”
The FBI declined to say on whether the search was ongoing or what it might be for, and Trump provided no explanation for why federal officials were at his residence – a circumstance that adds to the ex-legal president’s woes.
According to many US media sites citing sources close to the investigation, agents were conducting a court-authorized search relating to the potential mishandling of classified documents sent to Mar-a-Lago.
Trump claimed in a message on his Truth Social network that his “beautiful property, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a huge group of FBI agents.”
Police cars were visible in aerial footage of Mar-a-Lago. Outside, supporters of the former US president gathered, brandishing banners with Trump’s name or American flags bearing his face.
According to The New York Times, the former president stated, “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024.”
“Such an assault could only happen in impoverished Third-World countries. “Unfortunately, America is now one of those countries,” Trump stated, adding, “They even broke into my safe!”
