RIYADH: Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s energy minister, has announced the discovery of two new natural gas reserves in the country.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the “Awtad” unconventional natural gas field was found 142 kilometers south of the city of Hofuf, southwest of the Ghawar field.
230 kilometers southwest of the city of Dhahran is the “Al-Dahna” unconventional natural gas field.
Saudi Aramco made the discoveries of both fields.
According to Prince Abdulaziz, the significance of these finds resides in the fact that they will assist Saudi Arabia’s natural gas reserves grow, which will support the country’s initiatives and advance the Liquid Fuel Displacement Program’s goals.
The discoveries, according to the Minister of Energy, highlight the abundance of natural resources the Kingdom has at its disposal.
