SINGAPORE: A 32-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly using criminal force to prevent police officers from carrying out their duties at the recent ZoukOut event, according to the Singapore Police Force (Dec 22).
On December 4, police were called to a sunken VIP stage at the ZoukOut event at Siloso Beach in Sentosa.
The officers were reportedly splashed with a “unknown liquid believed to be alcohol” while assisting in the evacuation of the partygoers.
Officers from Clementi Police Division identified the woman who threw the liquid using ground inquiries, images from the police drone deployed at the event, and images from the officers’ body-worn cameras.
She was arrested on December 7 for “using criminal force to deter public servants from performing their duties,” according to the police.
The investigations are still ongoing.
If she is found guilty of using criminal force to prevent a public servant from performing his or her duties, she could face up to four years in prison, a fine, or both.
“The police have zero tolerance for such brazen acts of violence against police officers or public servants performing their duties,” according to the news release.
“The police will not hesitate to take firm action against those who endanger public safety and our officers’ safety.”
“During the year-end celebrations, members of the public are also advised to follow the directions of police and security officers,” it added.
