Ukraine, on Monday (4/29/2024), successfully thwarted 55 Russian attacks in Donetsk, marking a significant defense against the ongoing aggression from Moscow.

A day prior, Kyiv acknowledged a worsening situation on the frontlines.

Over the weekend, Russian forces claimed to have seized another village in Novobakhmutivka, eastern Ukraine, while Kyiv’s troops awaited arms deliveries from the US.

The Ukrainian military stated that they repelled 55 attacks across several villages north and west of Novobakhmutivka.

These locations include Ocheretyne, where intense battles were reported on Sunday (4/28/2024).

The villages lie north of the central town of Adviivka, captured by Russia in February. Currently, Moscow’s forces continue to push further into Donetsk territory.

Further south, Ukraine reported its forces maintaining resistance against Russian assaults in several settlements west of the Moscow-controlled Donetsk, including the city of Krasnogorivka.

Kyiv revealed that Russian forces, aided by air support, attempted 15 breaches of defenses.

Krasnogorivka, situated approximately 20 kilometers west of Donetsk, stands as a key stronghold for Ukraine.

The region has become more vulnerable since the falls of Marinka and Avdiivka, with increased fighting reported in recent weeks.

Ukrainian Commander Oleksandr Syrsky, on Sunday (4/28/2024), announced the withdrawal of troops to new defense lines further west in several areas.

Kyiv also warned of Russia’s likely attempts to achieve victories ahead of its patriotic holiday on May 9, 2024.
