Jakarta – According to Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobieva, President Vladimir Putin plans to attend the G20 Summit, which will be held by Indonesia in Bali in October this year.

The Russian president’s participation would be contingent on a number of things, but Putin planned to attend the G20 Summit, the envoy said during a news conference here on Wednesday.

“Many factors will be considered, including the improving COVID situation. However, so far, the plan is to… He want to come, “In answer to Antara’s query on whether Putin will attend the G20 Summit in Bali, Vorobieva stated.

Vorobieva made the comment in response to a request from numerous G20 members, notably the United States and several Western nations, to exclude Russia from the G20 in the aftermath of the military action in Ukraine. According to the Russian envoy, such a move would be a step back for the G20, which was formed to address the global economic crisis and issues.

“Of course, Russia’s removal from this type of conference will not assist to settle these economic issues. On the contrary, it will be difficult without Russia, ” she explained.

So far, Russia has taken part in a number of G20 meetings, including those held digitally, according to Vorobieva.

“We strongly support the Indonesian Presidency in the G20, the priorities and slogan of Recover Together, Recover Stronger, and we really hope that the Indonesian Government would not give in to the horrible pressure that is being applied to not only Indonesia but also to many countries in the world by the West,” Ambassador Vorobieva emphasized.
