WASHINGTON – The White House said on Saturday that China’s actions in and around the Taiwan Strait were provocative and reckless, following reports from Taiwan that Chinese aircraft and warships practiced an attack on the island.
“These actions represent a major increase in China’s efforts to alter the status quo.” They are inflammatory, foolish, and risk miscalculation,” claimed a White House spokesperson.
“They also contradict our long-standing goal of sustaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, which the world expects,” the official added.
