TOKYO – The Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations criticized Russia’s kidnapping of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility leadership and demanded that full management of the plant be returned to Ukraine immediately.
“We condemn Russia’s repeated kidnappings of Ukrainian ZNPP (Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant) leadership and workers,” said the G7 Nonproliferation Directors General in a statement issued on Saturday.
“We encourage Russia to quickly return full control of the ZNPP to Ukraine, its rightful sovereign owner,” it stated.
Russian military have had control of Europe’s largest nuclear plant since the beginning of their invasion of Ukraine in February.
