The National University through the Bureau of Student Administration (Biromawa) held a national-level UNAS FEST 2022 competition competition to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary. This activity was held to build an academic climate, especially the spirit of competition among students.

“One of the activities we do is to encourage the academic climate, especially the spirit of competition among students,” said Head of Biromawa Unas Kamaruddin Salim, S.Sos., M.Si. in his remarks at the Final round of EDC, KDBI, and LKTI as well as the Closing of UNAS FEST 2022 at the Unas Auditorium, Monday, December 12, 2022.

Kamaruddin also stated that Unas strives to continue to create collaborative activities by involving students and carrying out activities that encourage academic enthusiasm. One of them is the implementation of UNAS FEST by cooperating with all Unas students.

“So this activity certainly gets participation from students, of course, outstanding students at National Universities, both national, international champions, scholarship recipients and other students who are directly involved in this activity,” he said.

This year’s UNAS FEST is the second event after the previous inaugural event in 2021. This year UNAS FEST is held at the National level with participants from public and private universities from all over Indonesia.

“Thank God this is already on the way in the second period for the national level. We hope that this will continue to run simultaneously and can develop in the next year,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector for General Administration, Finance, and Human Resources Unas Prof. Dr. Drs. Eko Sugiyanto, M.Si. also expressed his appreciation because the theme carried is an important issue, namely related to food security. He also appreciated the parties who had supported the UNAS FEST activities which were carried out in order to enliven the 73rd Anniversary of Unas.

On this occasion, he also encouraged that results related to scientific debates could be published in Populist Unas journals as well as international journals. “So the first, second and third place in addition to getting prizes from the sponsors can be published in the populist journal of the National University,” he said.

Before closing his remarks, Prof. Eko also thanked all the committees involved, as well as the students who had supported the implementation of this event. Prof. Eko also hopes that this UNAS FEST event can run continuously and can cooperate with many parties to work together in order to encourage students to increase concern for national and global issues that are of concern to the community.

“Hopefully this can develop further for activities that are in line with today’s activities and can provide encouragement and obtain maximum results for today’s and future Unas Fest,” he hoped.

In this UNAS FEST, three activities were contested, namely the Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI), the English Debate Competition (EDC) and the National Indonesian Debate Competition (KDBI). This time, UNAS FEST carries the theme ‘Indonesia’s Food Security in the Face of a Global Food Crisis’.

The theme was chosen with the aim that Indonesia’s millennial generation is able to bring big positive changes to the progress of the country and nation and has an active role in handling food issues that are currently happening.

UNAS Fest is also supported by HKTI Women Farmers, the Indonesian Food Agency and the National Alliance. UNAS FEST activities opened on Monday, December 5, 20220 and immediately continued with the preliminaries of the EDC and KDBI competition competitions.
