Giorgia Meloni, whose political party has neo-fascist roots, was sworn in as Italy’s first far-right premier on Saturday.
Meloni, 45, took the oath of office before the Italian president in the presidential palace, becoming the country’s first female prime minister.
In last month’s national election, her Brothers of Italy party received the most votes. Meloni’s Cabinet was unveiled on Friday evening. Her coalition partners include Matteo Salvini’s right-wing League and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s conservative Forza Italia party.
