Human Rights Watch (HRW) has expressed concern about the severe telecommunications blackout in Gaza during Israel’s ongoing bombardment of the region. They point out that this blackout could potentially hide mass atrocities.
Internet access and the phone network were completely disrupted across Gaza, with no communication with the outside world. This blackout is a matter of concern as it may contribute to a lack of transparency and accountability for human rights violations and war crimes.
The situation has also affected the operations of international agencies and NGOs, making it difficult to obtain critical information about the situation in Gaza.
