Man shot dead during riot in Sao Paulo after FIFA Club World Cup loss

On Saturday, a man was shot dead during a fight among Palmeiras fans who had watched their team lose to English club Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The man was shot outside Palmeiras’ stadium in Sao Paulo, where thousands of fans had gathered to watch the game on giant screens.

There were some fights among spectators, which sparked a disturbance and resulted in a man being shot.

To disperse the crowds, riot police deployed tear gas and rubber bullets.

Palmeiras was aiming to win the annual event for the first time and join state rivals Corinthians, Santos, and Sao Paulo in winning the trophy fought between the world’s top club sides.
