Ministry of Religious Affairs: Umrah reopens on January 8

Director General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hilman Latief revealed that the implementation of Umrah worship will be re-opened on January 8, 2022.

Hilman said the implementation of Umrah in the pandemic period must comply with health protocols to provide protection to pilgrims.

“The departure of Umrah pilgrims is planned to reopen on January 8, 2022. Because it is still in the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of Umrah is carried out with strict control and supervision of health protocol compliance, both in the country and in Saudi Arabia by prioritizing the protection and safety of pilgrims, “said Hilman in Jakarta, Thursday (06/01/2022).

According to Hilman, his party has held a meeting across Ministries / Institutions related to the Implementation of Umrah Worship in 1443 H on January 3, 2022.

Hilman has also received direction from Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas regarding the necessity of implementing strict health protocols.

“PPIU (Umrah Travel Organizer) who will dispatch Umrah pilgrims is also obliged to report departures through SISKOPATUH,” hilman said.

Another provision, said Hilman, departure is prioritised for PPIU who use direct flights (direct flight) through Soekarno Hatta Airport.

The return of Umrah pilgrims must also follow the policies set by the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force.

“The departure of the initial four flights refers tothe One Gate Policyby using the Jakarta Hajj dormitory as a location for health screening and the starting point of departure coordinated by the PPIU association,” hilman explained.

“The Provincial Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs must monitor the departure of Umrah pilgrims in their work areas,” he continued.

Hilman added, his party had written to PPIU and The Provincial Ministry of Trade in Indonesia related to the provisions of the implementation of Umrah worship during this pandemic. (*)
