Musk sparks criticism with ‘Ukraine-Russia Peace’ poll on Twitter

WASHINGTON – Ukrainian officials have criticized American tech tycoon Elon Musk after he launched a Twitter poll about the war between Russia and Ukraine on Monday.

Musk conducted a survey titled “Ukraine-Russia Peace” in which respondents were questioned if they supported rerunning referendums in Ukrainian territories captured by Moscow, recognizing Crimea’s annexation, guaranteeing the continuation of water supplies to Crimea, and maintaining Ukraine’s neutrality.

A majority of respondents (63%), but not all (36%), disagreed with the poll’s question.

A follow-up tweet from Tesla’s CEO elaborated on his earlier statement, saying, “this is extremely likely to be the conclusion in the end – simply a question of how many die before then.”

Also worth emphasizing that a possible, albeit unlikely, consequence from this fight is nuclear war,” he tweeted later.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the survey by posting his own poll asking his supporters if they would rather see a Musk who favors Ukraine or Russia.

The majority of respondents (84%) believe that Musk would assist Ukraine.

An advisor to Zelenskyy’s chief of staff named Mykhailo Podolyak has stated that a more suitable peace plan exists, and that it involves the liberation of all of Ukraine, including Crimea.

The top diplomat for Ukraine in Germany, Andrij Melnyk, urged Musk to “f..k off.”

The only result is that you can forget about selling any of your f*cking Tesla junk to Ukrainians ever again. So, good luck,” Melnyk wrote in a tweet at one point.

In another message, he said, “F…k off is my extremely civilized reply to you.”
