East Kalimantan’s Penajam – On Monday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is set to camp at the site of the future Nusantara national capital, which is now under development in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan (March 14, 2022).

The governors of East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan will accompany him.

“Around 33 governors are anticipated to arrive to the camping location (where the President will stay),” East Kalimantan Regional Secretariat Administrative Bureau chief H.M. Syafranuddin said on Saturday in Penajam.

“However, only five governors will stay and camp with the President at Nusantara’s zero point,” he stated.

President Widodo will conduct the Kendi Nusantara ceremony with the 33 governors as part of the camping activities.

The governors have been ordered to bring water and soil from their respective regions, then combine and store them in the Kendi Nusantara, or Nusantara Jug, at ground zero.

East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor has been ordered to deliver water and soil from two districts in his province: Kutai Kartanegara and Paser, according to Syafranuddin.

Because Nusantara encompasses both the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate and the Paser Sultanate, the water and soils will serve as a metaphor for the two East Kalimantan sultanates.

“The President’s ritual and camping activities will take place on Monday (March 14), and Jokowi is planned to arrive in Balikpapan on Sunday (March 13), one day before the event, so he will stay there first,” Syafranuddin explained.

A variety of services and utilities, including as toilet and washing facilities, telecommunications networks, power, water, and others, have been set up at the camping site.

“The tent and others that the President and his entourage will use are fully prepared,” Syafranuddin remarked.

On March 16, 2022, the camping activities will come to an end.
