ISTANBUL: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, engaged in a telephone conversation on Friday to address concerns raised by the Turkish presidency regarding human rights violations taking place in the Gaza Strip by Israel. They also discussed strategies for providing humanitarian assistance.

In this conversation, Erdogan conveyed to President El-Sisi his deep concern about the lack of international response, particularly from Western nations, to the destruction of hospitals, schools, and places of worship in Gaza. Erdogan’s office released a statement noting that this silence was exacerbating the dire situation in Gaza.

Furthermore, Erdogan emphasized that the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza is an unacceptable and distressing development. He pledged that Turkey, or Turkiye, as he referred to it, would actively work to facilitate peace, expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid, and ensure the swift provision of medical services to the region.

In summary, Turkish President Erdogan and Egyptian President El-Sisi discussed the alleged human rights violations in Gaza by Israel, the lack of international response, and Turkey’s commitment to aiding the region and promoting peace.
