Jakarta – According to President Joko Widodo, Indonesia strives to unite G20 members despite the conflict between Russia and Ukraine (Jokowi).

“I’d want to highlight that Indonesia is eager to bring the G20 together (members). There should be no schisms. Peace and stability are essential for the global economy’s recovery and development “According to a video posted on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube page on Friday, the president declared at the Bogor Presidential Palace.

G20 members’ heads of state and governments will attend the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.

The president stated that over the last two months, he has communicated with various country leaders as well as the secretary general of the United Nations on preparations for the G20 Summit, which would be held in Bali in November 2022.

President Jokowi also drew attention to a list of state officials with whom he had spoken over the phone.

“On March 7, 2022, I spoke with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and then on March 8, 2022, I spoke with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, and on March 16, 2022, I spoke with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau,” he said.

On March 22, 2022, President Jokowi spoke on the phone with French President Emmanuel Macron; on March 31, 2022, he spoke with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte; and on April 12, 2022, he spoke with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

“Last Wednesday, April 27, at 3 p.m. local time, I spoke with Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and last night, Thursday, April 28, I spoke by phone with Portugal’s President, Marcelo de Sousa. I spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone last night around 19:00 local time “He disclosed.

President Jokowi reviewed the present global situation, especially the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, during the conversations. The president mentioned inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 Summit.

Ukraine does not belong to the G20. However, previous G20 leaders have invited other countries to attend the summit as guests.

The G20 has denounced Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is now in its ninth week. The invasion has heightened geopolitical tensions, put the world economy in jeopardy, and triggered a humanitarian disaster.

Several G20 members have also asked for Russia and President Vladimir Putin to be removed from the G20 conference attendance list. However, Indonesia denied the request, stating that it was too early to make a decision.
