Riyadh: In a significant move to alleviate the dire shortage of bread in Gaza, the UAE has delivered five state-of-the-art automated bakeries to Egypt’s Al-Arish city. According to the state news agency WAM, these bakeries, part of the “Gallant Knight 3” humanitarian operation, are anticipated to provide daily sustenance for over 420,000 people in Gaza.

With a remarkable production capacity of 17,500 loaves per hour for each bakery, the UAE’s initiative aims to address the pressing need for essential food supplies. To ensure seamless operations, the UAE will supply flour, diesel, and other necessary support, facilitating the bakeries to run 24 hours a day.

Furthermore, the UAE has taken steps to pay the salaries of individuals responsible for operating and supervising these automated bakeries, demonstrating a comprehensive commitment to sustaining this vital humanitarian effort.

In addition to the bakery support, the UAE has launched six water desalination plants, each with a capacity of approximately 1.2 million gallons per day. This strategic move seeks to address water scarcity in Gaza, improving the overall living conditions for its residents.

Rashid Mubarak Al-Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, emphasized the UAE’s enduring commitment to assisting the people of Gaza, pledging ongoing support to alleviate the suffering caused by the conflict. The UAE has now delivered a total of 15,700 tonnes of aid to Gaza through 162 cargo planes, underscoring its dedication to providing timely and essential relief to those affected by the ongoing challenges in the region.
