Several locations in Central Java are expected to start the dry season in early April 2022, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The earliest dry season is predicted to begin in the first ten days of April 2022, according to Sukasno, Chief of the BMKG Station in Central Java, in a press statement issued in Semarang on Friday.

Tegal City, Pekalongan City, numerous northern portions of Tegal, Pemalang, and Pekalongan, and several western sections of Batang District are among the places predicted to face the earliest dry seasons, he noted.

In general, he predicted that Central Java will start the dry season in May 2022.

According to Sukasno, the prognosis is based on the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which indicates a changing condition of the La Nina weather phenomena, which is expected to gradually revert to neutral throughout the March-May 2022 timeframe.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s sea surface temperatures are anticipated to stay warm to neutral through mid-2022.

“The dry season in 2022 is projected to begin 10 days later than usual,” he said.

He predicted that the dry season will climax in August 2022.

According to him, the shortest dry season lasts 2.5 months and the longest dry season lasts 7.5 months.
