Jakarta – The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has informed the public that there is enough cooking oil on the market for distribution and has advised people to be calm.

“People do not need to be concerned or panicked. The government guarantees that the market availability of cooking oil would be restricted. There is no scarcity, and we have subsidized bulk cooking oil at a low cost, ” Bustanul Arifin, the KSP’s primary expert, stated in a written statement published here on Friday.

According to the KSP, the ministries of trade and industry have secured the supply and distribution of cooking oil to guarantee that it stays available to the public.

The KSP also emphasized the government’s objective of lowering the price of bulk cooking oil to Rp14 thousand per kilogram.

“Meanwhile, unsubsidized packaged cooking oil is commonly accessible in mini-markets, supermarkets, and contemporary marketplaces,” Arifin noted.

The National Police (Polri) force previously announced that it is prepared to supervise the distribution and availability of subsidized cooking oil in the market following the establishment of the maximum retail price (HET) of Rp14 thousand per liter for bulk cooking oil.

General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Chief of the National Police, advised all stakeholders, beginning with producer firms, Crude Palm Oil (CPO) companies that process raw materials, and merchants who distribute cooking oil, to have cooking oil on hand.

He expressed his hope that in the future, there will be no long lines of people attempting to purchase cooking oil at the market.

“Once again, we expect that with the current rules, there will be no more lineups to acquire cooking oil in the future,” he added.

The government resolved to subsidize the price of bulk cooking oil in the market to Rp14 thousand per liter on March 15, 2022, at a restricted meeting at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The cash for the subsidies will come from the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency.

Meanwhile, the price of packaged cooking oil, both basic and premium, will be modified to reflect the economic worth.
