In Ankara, a relatively powerful earthquake occurred on Monday, causing residents to rush out onto the streets in apprehension. No immediate injuries or damages were reported.

The earthquake, measuring 5.1 in magnitude, originated in the Sea of Marmara near the town of Gemlik in Bursa province, as reported by the disaster management agency, AFAD. It occurred at 10:42 a.m. local time (07:42 GMT) at a depth of approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 miles).

According to HaberTurk television, the tremor was felt in Istanbul and neighboring areas, prompting individuals to evacuate residences and workplaces due to fear.

Back in February, a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck 11 provinces in southern and southeastern Turkey, along with parts of northern Syria, resulting in the loss of over 50,000 lives in Turkey.
