Jakarta – President Joko Widodo led the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority’s Head and Deputy Head, Bambang Susantono and Dhony Rahajoe, to the IKN zero point in the Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan.

“God willing, I will arrive to the Capital City,” IKN Authority Deputy Head Dhony Rahajoe said in Jakarta on Sunday.

President Joko Widodo is expected to camp at the Nusantara City region on Monday, March 14, 2022, as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to relocating the capital city to East Kalimantan.

He is planned to arrive in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on March 13 and spend the night there first.

“This is my first visit to the capital city,” Rahadjoe explained.

A lot of facilities have been constructed at President Joko Widodo’s camp site, including bathing, washing, toilet facilities, telecommunications networks, power, and water. The President and his entourage will sleep in a tent on camping days.

East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor said that President Joko Widodo has also asked all governors from around Indonesia to attend the celebration. Each governor is supposed to dress in the traditional attire of his or her province. However, only five governors from throughout Kalimantan will stay with the President.

In addition, the President will undertake the ‘Kendi Nusantara’ ceremony with 33 governors from around Indonesia. It is a rite in which governors are told to bring water and dirt from each province of origin, which will be mixed in a jug and deposited at Nusantara Capital City’s point zero.

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, President Joko Widodo officially installed Bambang Susantono and Dhony Rahajoe as the Head and Deputy Head of the Nusantara IKN Authority, respectively, in the State Palace in Jakarta.

The President stated that the duo was an excellent match because Susantono graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology with a degree in civil infrastructure and urban planning. He also holds master’s and doctorate degrees, has worked in transportation and finance, and was most recently a Vice President at the Asian Development Bank.

Dhony Rahajoe, on the other hand, has vast expertise in the real estate industry. Prior to his appointment, he was the Managing Director of Sinarmas Land’s President Office.
