Subianto presents a pistol made by Pindad to France’s Defense Minister

Following a bilateral meeting on Thursday, Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto delivered a pistol made by state-owned weapons producer PT Pindad as a remembrance to his counterpart Florence Parly.

According to a news release published by the Secretariat General of Defense Ministry’s public relations division here on Friday, the weapon was a white and gold G2 Elite pistol with the French Defense Minister’s name etched on it.

According to PT Pindad’s official website, the weapon features a 9×19 mm parabellum caliber and a magazine that can restore 15 bullets.

It also includes an adjustable rear plate and a 5 inch barrel length for maximum accuracy.

Subianto stated that bilateral defense cooperation between Indonesia and France is doing extremely well.

“On June 28, 2021, we signed a defense cooperation pact. However, in order for it to be carried out correctly, it must be ratified by our legislative body “He continued.

At the most recent meeting, several agreements were signed in the presence of both ministers.

The Indonesian Defense Ministry has decided to purchase six Rafale warplanes from French Dassault Aviation under one of the agreements. According to Subianto, Indonesia would purchase 42 Rafale fighters in stages under the pact.

During the meeting, a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on cooperation on submarine research and development between Indonesian state-run ship manufacturer PT PAL and the Naval Group, as well as cooperation in manufacturing large-caliber munitions between PT Pindad and Nexter Munition, were also signed.
