Man arrested after allegedly swinging a sword at several people in Buangkok

SINGAPORE: A man was detained on Monday for criminal intimidation and possession of an offensive weapon after reportedly swinging a sword at numerous individuals in Buangkok, according to police (Mar 14).

The police said they responded to a plea for assistance at 1.55 p.m. on Monday after a man was observed carrying a sword near Buangkok Square.

The guy allegedly swung the sword at members of the public, causing minor injuries to two persons. According to authorities, at least three automobiles were also damaged.

Five members of the public then detained the guy until he was apprehended by responding police officers.

“The individual was detained for criminal intimidation and possession of an offensive weapon,” police added.

The sword had been taken into custody as a case exhibit. The inquiry is still underway, according to the police. A video circulating online depicted a guy swinging a sword at multiple persons and automobiles.

Anyone detected in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place faces up to three years in prison and six strokes from a cane. For criminal intimidation, the guy may face up to two years in prison, a fine, or both.
