JAKARTA – Saudi Economy and Planning Minister Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim met with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in Jakarta on Saturday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

They talked about subjects of mutual interest and strategies to deepen bilateral ties. The discussion took place on the eve of the G20 development ministerial meeting, which was hosted by Indonesia on the island of Belitung.

Throughout the two-day high-level discussion, Al-Ibrahim emphasized the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing global cooperation and achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

He stated that the G20 summit provided an opportunity to collaborate more closely and propose tangible initiatives to assist poor nations and create inclusive, resilient, and socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable recovery efforts.

He went on to say that the Kingdom is proud to reconfirm and reaffirm its commitment to attaining these goals as the world’s fastest-growing economy.

“International collaboration is a top priority for the Kingdom, and we are more determined than ever to collaborate with our international partners to accomplish the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs,” he said.

“To accomplish so, we must rebuild trust in the multilateral framework.” We wholeheartedly support the argument in the G20 ministerial vision statement that multilateralism is not an option but a requirement if we are to create a more equal, resilient, and sustainable world.”

Saudi Arabia has already made initiatives to speed up the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

The Kingdom’s quick and immediate actions allowed it to mitigate the economic damage of COVID-19, laying the groundwork for today’s healthy growth.
