Surabaya – According to Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, President Joko Widodo has asked his staff to prepare for a shortfall of discounted fuel during Ramadan and Eid.

“The President has given orders so that the lack of diesel fuel is quickly anticipated,” the Vice President stated on the margins of a business visit to Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday.

According to the Vice President, the President has also directed the appropriate ministers to take efforts to ensure the supply of discounted diesel.

He emphasized that the government will continue to monitor the delivery of subsidized fuel.

“I suppose we simply have to wait a few days for anything to be released about the actions we’re talking about,” the Vice President stated.

Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani has previously urged the government to ensure the supply of diesel to avoid disruptions in logistical distribution during Ramadan and Eid.

“We shall soon enter Ramadan. As a result, the current biodiesel problem must be solved as soon as possible. The government must be able to assure the availability of biodiesel supply so that logistics transportation distribution (process) is not disrupted,” according to Maharani.

She asked the government to find a solution to the subsidized diesel dilemma as soon as possible, since it has the potential to cause difficulties in several regions. According to her, the diesel fuel crisis might disrupt logistical distribution and lead farmers to lose money owing to issues with produce delivery.

In accordance with the meeting of Commission VII of the DPR and the government, Maharani determined that it was essential to enhance the quota of subsidized biodiesel in order to satisfy the demands of the community.

According to the DPR speaker, the subsidized biodiesel quota reduction was caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. However, Maharani pointed out that the rise in biodiesel demand was related to economic recovery.

“This circumstance must be taken into account by the government. If not addressed quickly, the subsidized diesel situation will have far-reaching consequences, particularly as Ramadan approaches “She was cautious.

The DPR speaker underlined the significance of overseeing the delivery of subsidized fuel. To that aim, she encouraged the administration to coordinate the distribution process with law enforcement authorities.

“The distribution of subsidized diesel must be precise. Strict action must be taken against all forms of misappropriation in the distribution of discounted fuel, ” she stated.
